The story of Times Grill told by its very own customers and reported by an employee who listened to these customers.
“I may have not been around when Times Grill was first established, but I most certainly feel as if I were. As the story goes, and I’ll try to make this short and sweet, (Times was not Times at first). Shearn Lemoine, with the support and help of a group of friends, first opened a bar named Marley’s located right on Hwy 22 in Mandeville. The bar/daiquiri shop quickly became a hot-spot to Mandevillians. Shearn had a thought – why not attach a small but delicious burger joint next to Marley’s that would also stay open till 4 am? And there Times Bar & Grill was born, 1994.
After years of operating a bar, Shearn knew he had something special in the restaurant business- a delicious and juicy burger almost impossible to replicate even by superhero moms all over the Northshsore. So he closed the once rowdy Marley’s and moved Times Grill to its very first full-service restaurant location where it is still located today- 1896 North Causeway Blvd. in Mandeville.
Times was originally a small restaurant, consisting of approximately 35 seats including a bar and a small smoking section (yes this is when you could smoke in restaurants). This is around the time I started at the age of 16 as a host. A few years later Shearn opened his second store in Slidell (they just celebrated their 13th year), expanded and renovated the Mandeville store and added another member to the Times Grill family on Essen Lane in Baton Rouge!
Wow! 20 years! Not many restaurants can say that. In the past 20 years I’ve seen several hurricanes try to take us down, a recession hit and many other hardships occur to the community and our restaurant. Through it all our customers have kept the Times Grill legacy alive and for that we thank you for an outstanding 20 years. May we have another 20 successful years ahead!”
